Overview

The most common question/statement that I hear when presenting the VZ58 is "Aint that just an AK ?." I respond with a hearty"Hell no" both guns use a very different operating mechanism in real life and in Airsoft they use a unique Gearbox and hop design.

This iteration of the VZ is created by ARES and licensed by Czech Small Arms the original maker of the VZ58 and distributed by TOLMAR who are a distributor based in Slovenia who are a massive distributor for G&G, ASG, ICS and im assuming now ARES.

Externals

But now onto the main feature.

The outside, the metal is very high quality. Everything that should be metal is metal everything thats plastic should be plastic.

The polymer used for the handguards isnt as thick as i would have hoped, im sure this is because the compartment for the battery in the front handguard below the barrel is quite tight and if they increased the thickness of the plastic it would further restrict the battery size, as it stands i can fit in a 7.4v 1400mah WE LIPO.

The top reciever behind the bolt is removed very closley to the real VZ you remove the rear reciever pin and the top cover comes off revealing the top of the GB you can then remove the bolt.

The front handguard is also removed almsot indentically to the real VZ. there is one push pin that holds on the gas block which is the upper part of the handguard.

you can now progress to the lower handguard, to remove this there is a large flat head screw on the inside of the upper handguard when you unscrew this is removes the front barrel and front sight and now you can access the battery !.

Internals

The internals of the gun from what I can see on other peoples reviews ( im not opening the gun up) everything seems to be as it should.

The GB itself seems snappy and there isnt any grinding like alot of the other manufacturers.

Extras

Ares has teased a whole host of extra accessories (http://www.aresairsoft.com/vz58_accessories.html)

these seem to be in very tight supply there is someone I have found that stocks these parts for decent prices (saleswargamegearhk@gmail.com) they will lead to some fantastic configurations of VZs.

Due to the design of this gun being taken from the original plans you can use the orignal handguard with little to no modification and the magazines are essentially VZ58 mag shells with airsoft internals and as such you can modify the real magazines using the tutorial and plans found here https://www.facebook.com/airsoftvz58ares?fref=ts
