It’s been a long time coming without a ridiculous price tag but its here!

Ares have released the VZ58 utilizing the same gearbox technology as their massively popular Amoeba range and in part is compatible with their fire control programmer allowing for different burst lengths, semi and full auto to be swapped around at your preference.

They are releasing both a rifle length version and a much shorter carbine length where the front handguard changes which leads to relocation of the battery. With the rifle length the battery fits in the front handguard whereas the carbine length fits under the top cover like were used to with AK pattern rifles. This is odd to me as it seems unnecessary to change it as it makes more sense being in the top cover for quicker changes.

Ares have made us very happy with this as they are not only releasing the new guns but also sets of accessories to go with them from rails to AR stock adapters and from flash hiders to suppressors. Whether or not we will be able to change any of the furniture for surplus Bakelite or even the FAB DEFENSE furniture that is abundant for the VZ58 is unclear but I’m sure this will be tested when we receive this.

Closing thoughts with the guys are that this is a neat departure from the standard platforms we are used to seeing around the fields and it’s nice that manufacturers, more and more, are listening to the community and what we think.
